“In 1934, the renowned tenor Tito Merelli, known to his fans as “Il Stupendo,” is scheduled to sing the lead in Otello. Chaos ensues when Merelli’s wife, who has mistaken an autograph-seeker hidden in his closet for a secret lover, leaves him a “Dear John” letter. What follows is a chain-reaction of mistaken identity, farcical plot twists, double entendres, innuendoes, and constant entrances and exits through many doors. A rip-roaring comedy!”

1120 Caroline St.
Thibodaux, LA
Cast: 2m, 4f

Performances: January 14-15 & 20-22, 7PM and January 23, 2PM
Paul Cook (Coach): Paul is a recent graduate of Nicholls State University and a continuing victim of the jobless recession; so in essence, he truly is a starving actor. Nevertheless he returns to the Thibodaux Playhouse stage for another show. He was seen previously in “Don’t Drink the Water,” “Bless Me Father” and “Lucky Stiff.” He has acted in shows in Houma, Thibodaux and New Orleans since the mid 1990s and he most recently joined the board of the Thibodaux Playhouse. Blake M. Petit (Drama Professor): Blake is a writer, educator and geek pundit from Ama, Louisiana. He has performed in dozens of plays in the Thibodaux area, including The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), Rumors and, most recently, Annie; directed several shows; and is the writer of The 3-D Radio Show. Blake is an English teacher at Central Lafourche High School and a columnist, reviewer and editor for the pop culture website www.CXPulp.com, where his weekly 2 in 1 Showcase podcast appears every Sunday. He is a local attorney married to Andrea Cheramie Stentz, and they have a son Dylan (7) and a daughter Addison (5). Damon enjoyed this play mainly for the great workout it gave him each night at rehearsal!
Thibodaux Playhouse, Inc. announces the first show of our 2010-2011 season, All the Great Books (Abridged)
In a failing public school, three teachers are called upon to re-mediate their class in the great works of literature of all time, from Wuthering Heights through Harry Potter. The audience takes the role of the class. While this silly supposition offers an evening of continuous laughter, the script also invites the audience to recall these timeless books and their own high school experiences.
Shows will be October 1-2 & 7-9 at 7:30 PM and on October 10 at 2PM.
