Thibodaux Playhouse Inc. wrapped up  Woody Allen’s Don’t Drink the Water after a two-week run on Sunday, February 1, 2009. The show marked the playhouse’s second show of the 2008-2009 season.

Congratulations to Blake Petit who won the People’s Choice Award for his role of Walter Hollander in the show!

Congratulations also go out to Westly Annis and Paul Cook who both won the Trooper Award for their dedication and hard work throughout the run of the show!

Thibodaux Playhouse, Inc. announces the 2nd production of the 2008 – 2009 season. The comedy by Woody Allen is Don’t Drink the Water.

Performances: Jan. 23, 24, 29,30,31 at 7:30 pm and Feb. 1, Sunday, a 2:00 p.m. matinee.

The Comedy takes place inside an American embassy behind the Iron
curtain. An American tourist, a caterer by trade, and his wife and daughter rush into the embassy two steps ahead of the police who suspect them of spying and picture taking. The plot thickens as they carefully and frantically plot their escape.

In Order of Their Appearance: 

Westley Annis (Father Drobney):  ”An audience! An audience!” As an amateur magician, Westley is excited to be able to perform a bit of magic for a larger audience. He previously appeared as Reginald Tasker in last season’s production of The Bad Seed.

Tom Simons (Ambassador Magee): Tom is a board member of the Thibodaux Playhouse and has been active int the playhouse for the past ten years. He has appeared in several productions at the playhouse, most recently as “Bishop Bungy” in Bless Me Father. Tom, a Private Investigator and a Compliance Officer for the Parish of Lafourche, enjoys working at the playhouse on stage, in the wings as a producer or part of the crew. Tom would like to thank his family and friends for their support and encouragement in making this dream come true.

Nick Guillot (Kilroy & Yanis Kasner): Nick is a fun-loving guy who always likes to put a smile on everyone’s face. This is his third performance at the Thibodaux Playhouse. Nick’s wife and three-year old daughter mean the world to him and he loves them very much. He is thankful for all of their love and support! Thanks Lucy & Brooklyn! Nick would also like to thank Jesus Christ, without whom he can do nothing! He hopes everyone will enjoy the show!

Randy Mayeux (Axel Magee):Randy, 23, a recent graduate of the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute is currently working his way up the corporate ladder. He is very excited to return to the ThibodauxPlayhouse for his second production with the group. You may have seen him on stage with Nicholls Players in Story Theatre or The Imaginary Invalid, with Sam and Jim in Hamlet, or with Thibodaux Playhouse in The Odd Couple — Female Version. To anyone who may have heard him reciting lines in his sleep — accept his apologizes, he is deeply sorry. 

Katie DeHart (Marion Hollander): This will be Katie’s second performance at the Thibodaux playhouse and hopefully not the last! After playing domestic abuse victim Ms.Prout in the 2008 production of “Bless Me Father”, Katie is thankful to be playing a role with a little more backbone. Katie credits her life long love of the theatre and music to both of her parents. She would truly wish to thank all of her loved ones for their encouragement and support. And to those who have always taught her that no matter what that she can “defy gravity”.

Blake Petit (Walter Hollander): Blake has performed in over two dozen plays, most recently Rumors, directed plays such as Bless Me Father, and wrote The 3D Radio Show. He has published two novels, co-hosts the weekly 2 in 1 Showcase podcast, and produces frequent reviews, articles and original fiction for his website, EvertimeRealms.com. He teaches ninth-grade English at Central Lafourche High School, which currently pays better than any of his more impressive-sounding endeavors.

Clara Arceneaux (Susan Hollander)

Clara Arceneaux (Susan Hollander): Clara is an 18-year old Thibodaux High senior. She caught the acting bug when she was 12 years old when Nicholls State University’s performing arts camp put on The Snow Queen. Although she did not get a speaking role, Clara’s spirits were not broken. She went on to do Romeo and Juliet at a Texas Youth program. Most recently, Clara was seen in Thibodaux High’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream as ”Queen Titania” and A Bag Full of Fables as “Basil.” She is extremely excited to be making her Thibodaux Playhouse debut.  

Paul Cook (Krojack):Paul Cook is returning for his second performance this season at Thibodaux Playhouse. He most recently appeared as an angry, alcoholic, abusive husband in Bless Me Father. Now he is an angry, antisocial, abusive head of the secret police. Can you say type-casted? Paul also appeared in 2007’s Lucky Stiffand in Rivertown Repertory Theater’s Arsenic and Old Lace.He is currently a full-time public relations sophomore at Nicholls State University, and the managing editor of the Nicholls Worth. He wishes to thank Daniel and the boys for all their support.

Erica Annis (Mrs. Burns):No stranger to theatre, Erica has directed numerous children’s productions over the last decade. A new member of the Board of Directors for the Thibodaux Playhouse, Don’t Drink the Water is her second acting role with the Playhouse.

 

Ken Poon (Chef): Ken Poon was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and is a resident of Thibodaux. He graduated from Nicholls State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication. He has worked with Nicholls State Theatre Director, Dr. Stanley Coleman on a couple of Nicholls Players’ Productions. This is Ken’s second performance with the Thibodaux Playhouse. He was last seen as “Officer Stromer” in Bless Me Father. Ken currently works at Charter Media.

Damon Stentz (Sultan of Bashir):Damon Stentz is a local attorney who hasn’t acted since high school, but with seven years of jury trial experience, he’s no stranger to holding a crowd’s attention. Damon is married to Andrea Stentz, who is another local attorney, and they have two children: Dylan (5) and Addison (3).

Katelyn Thibodeaux (Sultan’s First Wife & Countess Bardoni): Katelyn is excited about being able to do her first performance for Thibodaux Playhouse. She was last seen in Nicholls State University’s production of Spoon River Anthology and Nolyn Productions Pajama Game as well as many other shows in New Orleans. Katelyn is a freshman at Nicholls and is excited to keep theatre in her life. She is a member of the Nicholls Players as well as the Nicholls Worth. She would like to thank her friends and family for their support as well as Paul for calling her and asking her to be in the show.

Treva Breaux (Armed Guard): Treva is a 7th grader at St. Genevieve school. He makes his debut with the Thibodaux Playhouse. He was last seen with the Nicholls Players’ production of Spoon River Anthology and has also been in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, To Kill a Mockingbird, Oedipus the King and The Glass Menagerie. He has also been seen in the last four children’s musicals. He would like to thank his family and friends and everyone who has taught so much at Nicholls.

Thibodaux Playhouse Inc. will be holding a second round of auditions for its second show of its 49th season: Don’t Drink the Water.

Although the first round of auditions went well, this is a large cast and all parts have not yet been cast. We still need two fairly large parts filled as well as several smaller parts including some non-speaking roles for a party scene. There are some roles in this show that can be played by either a male or female, so if you’re interested please stop by and read for us. It’s going to be a great show!

Performances for Don’t Drink the Water will be January 23rd & 24th & 29th-31st, 2009 with a matinee on February 1st

Thibodaux Playhouse Inc. has rescheduled the upcoming performances of Bless Me Father. The show will now run on October 17th & 18th at 7:30pm and again October 23rd-25th at 7:30pm with a matinee on Sunday, October 26th at 2pm. As always, all performances will be at the theatre at the Wetlands Acadian Culture Center in Thibodaux.
