Debuting as the undertaker in the 1961 Thibodaux Playhouse production Send Me No Flowers, the late Joel Champagne (1929-2010) played his last role with Thibodaux Playhouse as the senator in the 2009 production of Born Yesterday. It is with sad heart but joyful memories that we dedicate our 51st season (2010-2011) to Joel.
A more devoted friend of TPI could not be found. As an active board member, Joel held various offices on the executive board, including one term as Treasurer and multiple terms as Corresponding/Social Secretary. Having earned the coveted Janus Award in 1997, Joel was known as the quintessential producer. He produced a whopping 16 plays from 1997-2008!
The curtain has come down on the tireless energy and talents donated to the Thibodaux Playhouse by Joel Champagne. We use this dedication as a standing ovation to his memory.
